FJORD HORSE INTERNATIONAL
ASSOCIATION

CONSTITUTION


INTRODUCTION
Fjord Horse International association (FHI) was founded in 2001 on the ideas of the previous stock company Fjord Horse International AS which had operated in the period 1997-2001.

ARTICLE 1 - NAME AND SEAT
The name of the Association shall be Fjord Horse International association (FHI).
The seat of the Association is in Norway, at Nordfjordeid, where a Secretariat address is established.

ARTICLE 2 - CHARACTER
The Association is a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) as it is understood by the definition of the United Nations. 

ARTICLE 3 - OBJECTIVES
3.1 To keep the Fjord Horse as a typical breed according to the guidelines in the Norwegian description of the breed.
3.2  To work for the acknowledgement and distribution of the Fjord Horse throughout the world.
3.3 To develop and handle stood-book information.
3.4 To standardise international judging rules and judging. 
3.5 To develop international competition systems, and standardise rules and regulations for this competitions.
3.6 To conclude international goals for the Fjord Horse in order to encourage education and competence regarding the Fjord Horse.
3.7 To operate an updated information channel with links to other relevant information sites.
3.8 To take initiatives for a Breeders Conference every year 

 

ARTICLE 4 - MEMBERSHIP
The membership consists of:
4.1  National and sub national Fjord Horse organisations
4.2 Individual members
4.3 Institutions, companies and other Fjord Horse supporters
4.4 Honorary members


ARTICLE 5 – ORGANS
The organs of the Association shall be
5.1 The General Assembly (GA)
5.2  The Board of Directors (Board)


ARTICLE 6 - THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The General Assembly is the highest organ of the Association, both in terms of legislation and decision making. It is 
composed of nominated delegates representing the members in ratios related to their contribution at entrance in the Association. A contribution corresponding to one share (NOK 10 000) in the previous Fjord Horse International A/S (stock company) gives the right to 1 delegate to the General Assembly.
In political matters regarding breading and use of the Fjord Horse, like for instance standardisation of rules regarding judging and testing, there have to be separate voting rules as described in the Bylaws.

ARTICLE 7 - THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors is the executive organ of the Association. It shall consist of
7.1 The President
7.2 The Vice-President
7.3  Board members in an amount of 3 persons among whom one have the responsibility for the accounts and one for the breeding questions.

These officers shall be elected in such manner and shall hold office for such term and shall have and enjoy duties, powers and privileges as may be determined by the Bylaws. The President shall have Postal address in Norway
The Board of Directors shall set up a Secretariat address or have board members to administer the affairs of the Association.

ARTICLE 8 - OFFICIAL LANGUAGES

8.1 The official language during the meetings of the General Assembly is English. 
8.2 The working language of the Secretariat is English.

 

ARTICLE 9 - AMENDMENTS

9.1 Any amendment of these articles shall require the affirmation of two thirds of the votes cast by the members of the General Assembly present and voting.
9.2 The proposed amendment must be submitted to the Secretariat / Board not less than two months ahead of the meeting at which it is to be considered. The Secretariat / Board shall forward the proposal to the delegates one month ahead of the meeting. 


ARTICLE 10 - DISSOLUTION
A decision to dissolve the Association shall require the content of at least two thirds of the votes cast by the members present and voting. It may only be taken at a meeting of the General Assembly specially called for this purpose.

ARTICLE 11 - BYLAWS

11.1 In order to regulate the affairs of the Association, the Board of Directors shall draw up Bylaws that shall be 
adopted by the General Assembly
11.2  Alterations to these Bylaws can only be made by the 
General Assembly provided that delegates are advised at least 1 month in advance by the Secretariat/ Board.


ARTICLE 12 – FINAL REGULATIONS
This Constitution was adopted by the Constituting Assembly at Nordfjordeid, Norway 4th of May 2001 and changed at the General Assembly 4th of May 2002.
